College Bound Mustang Athletes Celebrate Signing Day

April 22, 2016

For the first time in school history, Rancho Solano Preparatory School celebrates the college signings of two student-athletes. Seniors Cameron Parmigiani and Shannon Gurley have committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

This year, Cameron, a four-year varsity letterman and captain of the Rancho Solano boy's basketball team for the past three years, averaged 15 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game!  He led the Mustangs to the first state Section Tournament appearance in school history. He was named to the Arizona Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Team and was selected as one of 10 Arizona seniors from Division IV to play in the Division III-Division IV-Division V All-Star Game at Mesa Community College.  Cameron will be attending the University of St. Francis in the fall where he will continue playing basketball as a Fighting Saint!

Shannon, also a four year varsity letterman and captain of the Rancho Solano girl's volleyball team for the past three years, has additionally earned two varsity letters in girl's sand volleyball.  The most decorated athlete in school history, she was twice named state Section Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Division.  She was also twice named Arizona Volleyball Player of the Week by MaxPreps. Shannon led the Mustangs to their first two state tournaments in her junior and senior seasons.  During her senior season, she was named 3rd Team Small School All-American by MaxPreps and was a State Finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman in addition to being named Fox Sports AZ Student Athlete of the Month (December). One of the top hitters in the country, Shannon averaged 7.6 kills per set, good for 3rd in the nation. She will be attending Washington University in St. Louis in the fall where she will continue playing volleyball as a Bear!

We are proud to recognize Cameron and Shannon for their athletic achievements at Rancho Solano and we are excited we get to continue to cheer them on as they excel in their athletic as well as academic careers. Go Fighting Saints!  Go Bears!  We'll be watching!
