Rancho Solano acknowledges that AI technologies can be utilized as tool for resource gathering, scaffolding/support for students in need of additional modeling, writing support, and other tasks explicitly defined by instructors for a specific project. Additionally, RSPS must discourage actions that rob students of the learning outcomes we are seeking through our assignments.
It is considered serious academic dishonestly for a student to claim content created by AI as their own. The use of AI is considered prohibited whenever not expressly approved by an instructor on an assignment-by-assignment basis. (Towards this end, openai.com is proactively blocked on student WIFI.) When AI is in use, an attached copy of what the AI produces with proper citation must be included with the student submission in accordance with the instructor’s directions. The overall question that guides student use of AI will be to ascertain how and why was the AI tool is used and whether it is used in an academically dishonest way.

In the arts there's not always a definitive right or wrong, or a "yes" or "no."
Brandon Zale, Fine Arts Dept Chair
In the arts there's not always a definitive right or wrong, or a "yes" or "no." There's just a different variation, a new perspective, or a unique interpretation. The development of this creative mindset is the hallmark of a Rancho artist or performer and the beauty of the Fine Arts.
